Scamper - 2011 APHA bay overo stud colt

Scamper is very uniquely
colored (brown eyes, no white around the eyes) with a pretty head and well
put together conformation. He is tall for his age and will probably not
stop growing before he reaches at least 15.2 hands. He is more than 25%
Kingfisher bred (one of the APHA foundation sires, a versatile stallion
with points in halter, reining, western pleasure and western riding) on
top and bottom.
Scamper is halter broke,
leads, ties, grooms, picks up his feet and loads in a livestock trailer.
He loves people, walks up as soon as somebody shows up and likes to get
scratched.

2011, yes, this is what a colt has to suffer through when he is cute :-)

2011, learning to halter, lead, tie, groom, and other basics

He was weaned November 4th,
loaded into a trailer and hauled 80 miles to new surroundings.
November 5th he was given
time to get used to his surroundings and a person walking around in his
24x48' corral with 12x14' shelter.
November 6th he spend some
time learning to eat hay from a person and being touched with a whip.
November 7th he learned to
be touched on his face and neck, was haltered and started to lead around.
November 8th he learned to
tie, groom and pick up his front feet. He now walks up to a person that
comes into his corral.
That's a pretty good progress
for a stud colt that had never been touched before and spend his whole
life with Mama on a 500+ acre pasture. |
